Faraday V1.0.11 Release

We are proud to announce Faraday v1.0.11 (Community, Pro & Corp) is here!

It was a very intense month and a lot of small changes were introduced. Along with these, we are very happy to present a brand new feature; host/service CRUD in WEB UI. With this new version you can manage your Hosts and Services directly from our web interface without the need to run Faraday.

Also, adding to our WEB UI, we created a view to represent your vulnerabilities in terms of prices. Nowadays most companies have their own bounties for vulnerabilities so with this visualization you can quickly see your Workspaces' value. Clicking on severity prices lets you modify them. Try different bounty programs to figure out which one benefits you the most!

Philippines joins Crossfire Stars 2015 Grand Finals for the 4th Time

Philippines joins CFS 2015, Crossfire Stars 2015 for the 4th time!

GBPlay Inc., otherwise known as Gameclub has just presented Crossfire Stars 2015 (CFS 2015) during its recent presscon held at Treehouse Bar in A.Venue Mall, Makati City.  Crossfire Stars is a global e-sports league where teams from 80 countries compete for the championship title.  Regional champions will be selected through Crossfire Stars National Finals and compete against each other in the Crossfire Stars Grand Final.

Long been popular as the go-to online shooting game in the country, CFS 2015provides an opportunity for Philippine Crossfire players to test out their skills against each other.  Players from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will take part to determine the best team in each city.  Already done with tournaments in Cebu, CDO, Batangas, Davao and Manila, CFS 2015 is still going to hold 10 more regionals to ensure that every Crossfire diehard has the chance to show their gaming prowess.

This year’s Crossfire Stars is bigger than ever because of Gameclub’s partnership with SM Supermalls and Cyberzone.  Participating teams would be vying for a share of the P450,000 regional finals prize pool.  The mentioned prize pool does not yet include the figures for the National Finals itself which would be held at the Skydome in SM North Edsa on October 11, 2015.

This is the fourth time that the Philippines would be sending a team to represent the country at the Crossfire Stars 2015 Grand Finals.  Previous showings have impressed with team Pacific. Wara finishing 4^th in June of 2013, and placed as a quarter finalist in February 2014.  Last December 2014 saw Pacific.Macta rise to the top and placed 3^rd in the Grand Finals held in Seoul, South Korea.

In the said presscon, Gameclub also introduced Crossfire 2.0 version which they will showcase during the National Finals.  This is a more profound version of the current Crossfire Stars wherein game players would really enjoy bigtime.

LG Electronics teams up with ace photographer NICCOLO COSME

LG Electronics teams up with Niccolo Cosme to enable dreams and keep them alive

What happens when you put a revolutionary smartphone in the hands of a talented and visionary photographer? LG Electronics taps Filipino photographer Niccolo Cosme in a project inviting everyone to unleash their inner greatness.

Niccolo Cosme started a career in photography in 2001 and since then used his craft to leave a legacy. In the last few years, his works has already been showcased in New York, Vietnam, Macau, and Cambodia, to name a few.

In 2007, he started Project Headshot Clinicwhere he shoots profile photos of friends and celebrities for free to promote awareness and causes that are significant to him. As a photographer, Niccolo is attached to immortalizing moments and memories through photographs and “See the Greatness in You” is just one of the many projects that he engaged with to do so.

He shares his mother opens her home in Kawit, Cavite to children every summer and offer refresher classes before the school year starts. Through generous donations from close families and friends, Niccolo’s mom are able to provide new school supplies to these children by the end of the program so they will be motivated and eager to start every school year right.

A self-professed “dream-enabler,” Niccolo was more than happy to be able to integrate his craft to a tradition that has become close to his heart and hoped that through this joint project with LG Philippines, he will inspire children from his hometown to strive for education and pursue their dreams.

Last May 23, Niccolo and his team gathered together at Aguinaldo Shrine and set up their makeshift studio. The only gear missing on that day’s project was a professional DSLR camera. For someone who is used to a full gear of DSLR cameras complete with different sets of lenses, this is the first time for Niccolo to use only a smartphone to do a studio shoot.

Niccolo relied solely on the remarkable camera features of the LG G4; the built-in expert mode allows any user to adjust settings such as shutter speed, exposure, aperture, white balance levels just as you would with a standard DSLR camera. Also, apart from JPEG files, the LG G4 is also equipped to save in RAW file format which leaves photos completely untouched from editing. Niccolo was really impressed because it was easy to use the LG G4 during the shoot and the quality of the photos comes at par as if a professional DLSR camera was used.

That day, Niccolo shot portraits of around fifty students in location and on May 25, he returned with his team to Kawit, Cavite and gave back each child their very own portraits.

“We consider it a privilege to work with someone who believes and shares in our philosophy of making life good and worth living,” says LG Mobile Philippines Vice President Jay Won.

The portraits were displayed in the gallery that was revealed to public after the grand launch of LG G4 in the SolaireTheater last April 28.

GameX partners with GBPlay for Crossfire Stars 2015

GameX partners with GBPlay in search of top Crossfire Stars team in PH

GameX, the online portal developed by wireless services leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) for eSports players, has partnered with game publisher GBPlay Inc in search of the top Crossfire Stars team that will represent the country in the world arena.

The leading first-person shooter (FPS) online PC game in the world, Crossfire Stars pits two mercenary teams in a head-to-head battle across different fields and game modes.

The game’s design requires a lot of strategy and coordination among team members, and results in adrenaline-charged matches, eliciting a lot of fans around the world.

Crossfire 2015 will host a series of tournaments at participating SM Supermalls in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, culminating in the grand finals at SM North Edsa on October 11, 2015.

E-Sports at its Finest: Crossfire Stars 2015 is Coming Back with a Bang

Catch one of the largest local esports events in the Philippines through the Crossfire Stars 2015 Regionals. Experience the high-adrenaline action of the top online FPS game in the country. Philippine Crossfire publisher GBPlay Inc. is hosting its annual nationwide tournament to determine the country’s #1 Crossfire team to represent the country in the grand finals.

MERALCO ELECTRICITY BILLS DOWN FOR THE 2ND STRAIGHT MONTH

Meralco electricity bills down for the second straight month. It's the Lowest generation charge in 56 months

Consumers will definitely enjoy Meralco's cut-down on electricity charges.  This means more value for their money or more mileage of electricity usage. 

After registering a reduction of PhP 0.70 per kilowatthour (kWh) in overall rates last month, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said that electricity rates will go down again this month by PhP 0.58 per kWh. This brings the total reduction to PhP 1.28 per kWh over the past two months. This month’s reduction marks the fourth time this year that rates have gone down.

For a typical household consuming 200 kWh, the overall electricity bill will go down by PhP 116 compared to last month. At PhP 9.40 per kWh, this month’s overall rate is lower by PhP 1.21 compared to June 2014’s PhP 10.61 per kWh.

Lower generation costs from IPPs and PSAs

The biggest reduction in the overall rates was due to the generation charge which decreased by PhP 0.36 per kWh from PhP 4.81 per kWh in May to PhP 4.45 per kWh this month. This is its lowest level since October 2010.

The reduction was mainly driven by lower charges from plants under the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and Power Supply Agreements (PSAs) due to lower fuel costs and higher dispatch of the plants.  After running for 19 days on alternate liquid fuel (while the Malampaya natural gas facility was on shutdown) during the April supply month, the natural gas power plants, namely, Ilijan, First Gas-Sta. Rita, and First Gas-San Lorenzo, operated on less expensive Malampaya natural gas this May.

IPPs and PSAs registered reductions of PhP 0.67 and PhP 0.59 per kWh, respectively.

The reductions in IPP and PSA rates more than offset a PhP 2.85 per kWh increase in charges from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).  It will be recalled that WESM exhibited noticeable price spikes particularly beginning the week of May 11, as a number of plants went on forced outages or reduced their output.  The high WESM clearing prices, which at times approached PhP 30 per kWh, were sustained for the rest of the supply month.  According to the Philippine Electricity Market Corp. (PEMC), the operator of the WESM, the Secondary Price Cap was not triggered last May.

The share of IPPs, PSAs, and WESM to Meralco’s total power requirements stood at 45, 48, and 7 percent, respectively.

 

Adjustments in other bill components

In addition to the generation charge, transmission charge also registered a reduction of PhP 0.09 per kWh. Taxes and other charges also went down by PhP 0.06 and PhP 0.07 per kWh, respectively.

Meralco has consistently reiterated that it does not earn from the generation and transmission charges as these are pass-through costs. Payment for the generation charge goes to the power suppliers, while payment for the transmission charge goes to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). Of the total bill, only the distribution charge accrues to Meralco.

Meralco’s distribution charge has not registered any adjustment or change and has remained at the same level for almost a year or since July 2014 when it reflected a lower rate compared to June of the same year.

Meralco offers free trimming service

In time for the upcoming rainy season, Meralco advises its customers to report cases of tree branches near or touching power lines as these may cause localized power interruptions. They may call Meralco’s Call Center at 16211 to avail of free tree-trimming service.
