5 Reasons Why You Should Advance You Programming Skills!

Dreaming to become a better developer? We are here to tell you why you need to inspire yourself to become the best one.

It's not possible that you know everything when it comes to programming or anything else. There is no end to knowledge. You may be a programmer, or a developer, or just a coding beginner, but you will always need to develop your development skills. Here are five reasons which explain why you should advance your programming skills:

First of all don't lose your calm in any situation, however challenging it is, and never think that you have gained knowledge much more than required. So never think you know everything,

Never commit this mistake by thinking that you know everything. There is always something or other left in our learning process and there is always someone who knows something different from you. That person may have greater skills than you or lesser, it doesn't matter much. Keep up your drive to learn new things, don't become complacent at any stage of your life.

Don't forget that there is no word like job security. You have to learn new things, otherwise you yourself will generate the path for others to snatch your job.

There are so many people around you who are always trying to excel you by learning new skills and these efforts are enough to land your career in a mess. So you need continous development and think that you have no other choice left. Your career depends on your learning and development skills. Be a great developer and learn for your own sake first.

There is no limit to dynamic channels of getting new information about programming languages.

C++, HTML5, Xcode, D Programming language and so on, there is no end and there is also no end to the channels from where you can gain knowledge about all of them. The world is not that much big that any language becomes completely inaccessible. Languages are the most important tools in creating great developers who build amazing apps, websites and programs. Evolve yourself, reinvent yourself every new day.

Don't plan to work under someone throughout your life. Aim to become the Boss.

You are a fresher, not a problem. You have spent just few years in programming, again not a big deal. You are drawing an average salary, well sounds good. But what about the change? What is your target in your life, to remain the same? Hope not so. So learn everything possible around you, perform good and move up your scale. The average salary thing is not a constant for any good programmer or developer. The best part will come in just few years, no worries. Just keep up your good work. See yourself as the Boss.

Love your work and work will gradually seem God to you

If you love something, you worship the same. Your respect for your love comes automatically. Work is just like that. Love your passion of programming, keep pushing yourself towards better learning and further adoption of new skills. All this game of love, respect and worship will make you the best skilled programming professional.

Or just think coding as your favourite game and you will never feel down with workload or something like that.

So what are you waiting for? Start gaining new developer skills and try your hands in creating coolest apps, helpful websites and intelligent software.

Some Cool Google Drive Features You Shouldn't Miss!

Get out of your love for Microsoft Office as Google Drive features have so many things to offer you extra. Explore them with us.

We always appreciate Google Drive for its simplicity and user friendly nature. But little do we know how much the Google Drive apps are actually power packed for further advanced use. There are quite a few impressive features in Google Drive which we usually overlook like Docs, Sheets and Slides.

Now there are some new features which are great time savers and they create documents with utmost perfection, enough to impress your boss, professors and colleagues.

Research Tools

In this world text should be very interactive and readers mostly prefer having linking to related articles in any text. So citing sources or any academic paper is always very helpful and they provide a research opportunity too. Google Docs has two tools which simplify this task.

The Research tool adds a quick citation system and if you want to use it then click Tools >> Research. The keyboard shortcuts are CTRL+SHIFT-I on Mac and CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-I on a PC. When first opened the tool appears blank but it will begin to auto-suggest the research topics based on whatever your write. The tool features 7 search options: Everything (which conducts a Google search), Images, Scholar (which filters by academic resources), Quotes, Dictionary, Personal, and Tables.

You just need to click inside the box, select the search option and start typing to search. You can select the style of citation and Docs will insert a superscript numeral. It will be added as a note to the bottom of the page. The content is therefore provided in a right format and the in-text citation process becomes smoother.

There is another option called Power Linking. It's faster then the research tool if lots of links are to be added to any document. Highlight the target text and click Control-K. The search menu suggests a link and if you find the appropriate one just click it, insert and your task is done. You can also change the text in the search box to be more specific.

Sheets for surveys

Google Sheets is fully packed to help you in your spreadsheets. You can create charts through these Sheets and that too very quickly. Select the Chart icon on the menu bar or choose Insert >> Chart. This brings in the chart editor box. In the Start tab you can then edit the range of cells and choose from a variety of layout settings. Click Insert to put the chart in your spreadsheet.

To do so, select the Chart icon on the menu bar or choose Insert > Chart. This will bring up the chart editor box. In the Start tab you can then edit the range of cells and choose from a variety of layout settings. It also suggests some recommended charts based on the type of data you have. If you don’t like any of those, select from the other options by clicking More. Click Insert to put the chart in your spreadsheet.

There is one more powerful feature in Google Sheets which enables to create a map out of location based data. The data needs to have specific locations in the cells in order. To Begin click on the Charts tab and select Map. Then choose GeoMap option. In the Customize tab you can change the colours which appear on your map.

Slides for group-work

There is no template option like MS PowerPoint on Google Slides but it can make life easier if you are in a group project. You can also upload a PowerPoint file, convert it to a Slides presentation. To do that you just need to loacte the file, drag it into the Drive interface, select the box which converts the file. Once the Slides presentation is started you can invite others to view or edit it. You can also embed a presentation on a Google site. Select Insert >> Drive >> Presentation. If you want to insert your presentation in your personal or company website, go to File >> Publish to the web. Copy the HTML from the box 'Embed Code' and paste it into the HTML of your website. Click OK to ensure completion.

Hangouts

If you are collaborating on a project then Hangouts allows you to have a video chat while editing a file. Launch a video hangout, click on the Drive icon and discuss contents of the files with anybody you want. This screen sharing capability is heavily useful and it can be used on both desktops and mobiles.

Google launches 360 degree panorama of 76 new Indian monuments

Google and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India have come together to launch virtual tours of Indian cultural sites and explore over 1,400 cultural objects from India at the Google Cultural Institute site.

Google, with support from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), has added 76 new sites to its 360-degree panorama view, increasing the number of ASI sites covered to over 100. Besides monuments, exhibits at institutions like the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, and the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage have also been photographed for the project, and will be available online soon, at the Google Cultural Institute.
"With the release of this set of panoramic images, we aim to create a dynamic, immersive online experience by which people within India and around the world can appreciate more of India's diverse cultural heritage," said Union Minister of Culture Shripad Naik
"Google is deeply committed to helping preserve and showcase cultural heritage across the world, and it has been our privilege to work with the ASI and these partners to bring such diverse aspects of India's culture online," said Rajan Anandan, Vice President and Managing Director, Google India.
"I would like to thank all our partners. The mission of the Cultural Institute is to make the world’s heritage accessible for global audiences and to preserve it digitally for generations to come,” said Amit Sood, Director of the Google Cultural Institute. “By putting online more imagery from India’s most iconic sites, we hope to invite more people from around the world to learn more about the fascinating world of Indian culture, history, and art."
India has a rich heritage dating back several thousand years and has maintained the continuity of its unique culture. According to Facts About India, the ASI currently manages 3683 monuments and heritage sites.

Google Chrome comes to Cuba

Havana - Google Chrome has finally touched down in Cuba. In a Google+ post Wednesday, Google blames American export controls and sanctions that may prohibit the access of certain tools in Cuba.

"U.S. export controls and sanctions can sometimes limit the products available in certain countries. As these trade restrictions evolve we’ve been working to figure out how to make more tools available in sanctioned countries," the company said in a post.

Although many may have found ways to download Chrome through other channels, the browser is now available across all platforms, such as Mac OS X, Android, Windows and iOS.

According to The Verge, this announcement comes just a couple of months after Google CEO Eric Schmidt and a group of web activists visited Cuba in June, campaigning for "open and free Internet.”

The Cuban government has been trying to make Cuba more Internet accessible by opening more than a hundred Internet cafes and offering DSL service to residents. However, that does not mean that Cubans have easy access to the Internet. Only 3% of Cubans use the Internet, making the country one of the least connected places in the world.

In the past few years, Google has also pushed for Chrome access to Syria, Iran, Myanmar and North Korea.

Report: Windows 9 Will Debut as Early as Sept. 30

Windows 9 may be coming even before you begin thinking about a Halloween costume. A new report says Microsoft will give the world a first look at the new version of Windows on Sept. 30 or soon afterward at a press event to announce a developer build of the software.

The Verge reports the date is tentative, but the general timeframe is the end of September/beginning of October. The software will be a "preview" version meant for developers, the report says, so it's unclear if the rumored public beta for Windows 9 would begin at the same time.

Windows 9, which Microsoft has codenamed "Threshold," will revamp Windows to address some key usability criticisms of Windows 8/8.1. For starters, it's bringing back the Start menu (which was "blown out" into the Start screen with Windows 8) and enhancing it with some elements of the "modern" UI. Also, modern Windows apps will be able to run within a window on the Desktop.

In the "rumored but unconfirmed" column, Windows 9 may also do away with the Charms menu, which has proved unpopular with users and developers (just try using the "Share" charm from any modern app). Cortana, the voice assistant on Windows Phone, is also expected to appear in Windows 9, although she may not be in the developer preview that's supposed to launch in the fall.

Representatives for Microsoft declined to comment on the report.

LG's First 4K OLED TV Has an Eye-Popping Price Tag

SEOUL, South Korea — LG announced two new giant OLED TVs with ultra-high definition (a.k.a. 4K) screens Monday, sticking with its strategy of using the exceptionally expensive OLED display technology.

The South Korean company said it will ship 65-inch OLED TVs starting September in South Korea, Europe and North America. A 77-inch model will hit shelves later this year.

While major TV makers are pushing to make Ultra HD TVs mainstream, most use LCD screens. The super-high resolution picture, also known as 4K, packs four times more pixels than regular HD televisions.

Making Ultra HD quality TVs with OLED screens remain costly.  LG's 65-inch model will cost 12 million won ($11,765). Other types of Ultra HD televisions sell for less than $3,000.

OLED sets typically have deeper color saturation and a sharper image quality than LCD. The tech is also easier to build into ultra-thin form factors. But for years, the high rate of error during production contributed to a significant price premium over LCDs, preventing OLED displays from catching on among mainstream consumers.

LG said it is committed to OLED because the cost will come down and its advanced screen will eventually replace LCD screens. It forecasts that OLED TV sales will overtake LCD TV sales "within a few years."

"OLED is where we must head next," said Ha Hyun-hwoi, head of LG's TV business. "It is a matter of time."

LG's aggressive bet on OLED TVs is in contrast with its rival Samsung Electronics Co. After rolling out a 55-inch curved TV that uses an OLED display last year, Samsung has not announced an upgrade to its OLED TV for this year. Samsung uses OLED technology mostly for small devices, such as smartphones and tablet computers.

Google Chrome Extension Lets Users Send Encrypted Emails

Google has plans to make its email more secure, using add-on encryption software that will work like any other extension for Google Chrome.

On its security blog Tuesday, Google announced it’s preparing a Chrome extension called End-to-End to make heavy-duty encryption easier for anyone to use.

Google already offers HTTPS, but its own email stats show only about half of Gmail messages are secured this way.

HTTPS does protect Gmail messages while they’re in transit — the TP in HTTPS stands for "transfer protocol." The OpenPGP standard Google is using in End-to-End will help secure Gmail messages while they’re at rest on the sender or receiver’s machine.

They’ll have to be encrypted and decrypted with public and private keys — so not quite as easy as refreshing your inbox — but as Google says, it will probably appeal to “those who need added protection.”

Google has released the source code for community review before it goes live.

Take a Glimpse at LG's Upcoming Smartwatch

Mere months after the launch of its first Android Wear device, the LG G Watch, LG will release a new smartwatch, this time with a circular face.

The new wearable has been announced via an official video teaser, which reveals very little, besides the new device's round shape (as opposed to LG G Watch, which has a square face).

The teaser does, however, reveal that the device will be officially unveiled at IFA 2014, which takes place from Sept. 5-10 in Berlin.

The fall is shaping up to be pretty big for smartwatches. We'll likely see plenty more wearables at IFA this year, and Apple might launch a wearable of its own at its Sept. 9 event.

The Firefox OS Smartphone Is Only $33 in India

The inaugural Mozilla Firefox OS smartphone launched in India on Monday and it only costs $33. Dubbed the Cloud FX, the device is the result of a partnership between Mozilla and handset company Intex Technologies.

Mozilla announced at this year's Mobile Asia Expo that it was bringing the Cloud FX to Indian and Indonesian markets. However, the introduction of cheaper smartphones to India was first teased at the Mobile World Congress in February.

"With the launch of Intex Cloud FX, we aim to enable the masses to get smartphone experience at the cost of a feature phone," Intex director of marketing Keshav Bensal said in a statement Monday.

The cost-effective model is intended to help accelerate India's already-rapid rise to the top of the global smartphone market. India now has the the third-highest number of smartphone sales on the planet, according to a 2013 Canalys report, trailing only behind the U.S. and China.

Mozilla isn't the only company interested in tapping the lower-end of India's smartphone market. At Google I/O, Google announced its Android One program that promises to bring a 4.5-inch screen, dual-SIM, FM-radio enabled Android device to India for less than $100.

"The positive consumer feedback from other markets tells us that people like the unique user experience and openness we’re building with Firefox OS," Mozilla president Li Gong said in a statement. "Firefox OS smartphones in the ultra-low-cost category will redefine the entry-level smartphone and create strong momentum in Asia."

The phone packs a 4GB memory capacity and Bluetooth. It also supports Hindi and Tamil, two commonly spoken languages in India. It is available exclusively on SnapDeal.com.

Welcome to Google Street View, Indonesia

Google launched Street View in Indonesia on Thursday, allowing users to see panoramic cityscapes and underwater views of the country's striking coral reefs.

With a population of nearly 250 million, Indonesia is Google's biggest market in Asia thus far. The project was announced in partnership with Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2012 and took two years to develop in an effort to boost tourism.

As Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Pangestu explained the partnership with Google in 2012:

Tourism is such an important contributor to Indonesia’s economy and with the help of features like Google Maps, we hope to promote sustainable tourism by giving people a whole new way to experience Indonesia," she said. "We believe this mapping technology will have many different uses allowing tourists to check out hotels before arriving, make travel plans and arrange meeting points.

Street View is now up and running in Indonesia's four biggest cities: Jakarta, Bogor, Surabaya and Denpasar. Based on user feedback, the search giant may expand its service to other cities in the country.

The Street View expansion into Indonesia includes stunning views of underwater reefs at Komodo National Park, taken with special panoramic cameras as part of Google's ongoing partnership with Catlin Global Reef Record.

Google first launched underwater views through Street View Oceans last year, and most recently expanded its underwater imagery to the Florida Keys.

The company occasionally runs into privacy roadblocks when expanding to other countries, as it did in Greece. Because of this, it worked closely with Indonesian officials to launch the new project.

Google Street View is already operating in several Asian countries, including Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore and Thailand. It's also available in more than 57 countries around the world.

Find Out Which Apps Are Draining Your iPhone's Battery

A new app called Normal tells you which other apps to kill in order to save your battery life.

Unlike other apps that tell you what's zapping your power, Normal — which launched on iOS last week, price 99 cents — uses crowdsourced data from other users to offer personalized advice and pinpoint the drainage culprits.

Normal provides a basic analysis of which apps you should power down first. For example, it might suggest shutting down Facebook in order to gain three hours of battery life.

The app comes from two Stanford-educated computer scientists, Adam Oliner and Jacob Leverich, who developed it at Kuro Labs and using tech created at the University of California at Berkeley. The premise of their research was to try to determine the "normal" battery life for electronic devices, which became the name of the app.

While a similar feature will come to iOS 8 when it launches this fall, this app could hold you over in the meantime.

Facebook Will Pay Up If You Find Bugs in the Oculus Rift

For years, Facebook has maintained a bug bounty program to reward those who find problems with its platform. Now, it's expanding that program to Oculus Rift, which it acquired as part of Oculus VR for $2 billion in March.

The company is offering money for identifying issues in any major part of Oculus Rift’s code, from the development software to the website — with a minimum payout of $500 for bugs and software vulnerabilities. There's no upper limit, so the more critical or inventive the find, the more it could be worth.

Facebook isn’t reserved in its crowdsourced approach. The program, which covers a wide range of Facebook’s software properties, has paid out more than $2 million since its inception in 2011.

Facebook security engineer Neal Poole told The Verge that it’s focusing first on developer communication tools in the software, but Facebook won’t rule out bug rewards for the headset itself.

"A lot of the issues that come up with Oculus are not necessarily in the hardware yet," he said. "Potentially in the future, if people were to go explore and find issues in the SDK or the hardware, that is definitely of interest to us."

That hardware, meanwhile, is currently in its second generation of development, but Facebook has remained mum about when we can expect the Rift to hit the open market.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook Is Just Good Enough

The new Nook

Barnes & Noble's latest Nook tablet is a 7-inch Android tablet that looks and works like most other Android 4.4 "KitKat" models.

Lightweight design

The tablet is thin and light (just 9.74 ounces).

Library UI

The Library Interface gets better when you make it full-screen.

Shopping without wires

You can shop directly through the Wi-Fi-only device.

Cameras

This 3.1-megapixel camera is not really worth mention. There's also a 1.2MP Skype camera on the front -- a first for a Nook.

New Nook vs. iPad mini

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is on the left and an Apple iPad mini is on the right. Note how much smaller the Nook is than the mini.

Chromebook 2014 Review: Samsung, Dell and Toshiba Deliver Lean Laptops

The state of the Chromebook

Chromebooks are the perfect go-anywhere laptops. They're lightweight, inexpensive and built for the web. Chrome OS is easy enough for non-tech savvy people to use and enjoy, and it's still powerful enough for the most grizzled technologist. Long battery life and desktop-ready access to the web makes it more powerful than any tablet you can find, and it doesn’t need no touchscreen.

Dell Chromebook 11

The Dell Chromebook 11 is so light that you can put it on just about anything and it’ll practically float. And at $300, even if something happens to it, it isn’t so bad to buy another.

Samsung Chromebook 2

The 1080p display on the Chromebook 2 makes it perfect for streaming full-HD video, and the lightweight and thin frame means yes, you can lie on the couch watching TV on it.

Toshiba Chromebook

For outdoors use, the Toshiba Chromebook is the brightest of our test units. Read and watch video with ease on it.

3 flavors of Chrome

The Chromebook comes in many flavors, but always 11-inch or 13-inch frames. And they’re almost always simple; that’s the point.

Chrome, with a touch of leather

Samsung’s Chromebook 2 feels great to hold thanks to the thin body and leather-bound cover, which is stunning to feel and see.

Traditional design

Toshiba’s Chromebook has a dimpled cover and silver frame, though it’s more like a traditional laptop than any of the other Chromebooks.

Making Chrome look good

Dell’s Chromebook 11 is fast and small, and feels great to type on and to use. It may look a little plain, but don’t let that fool you.
