MANILA, Philippines – National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera is celebrating his 50th year as one of the country’s most renowned artists. As part of the brand’s movement to support the arts, Samsung recently opened an interactive exhibit at the Yuchengco Museum to celebrate the National Artist’s creative milestone. To coincide with the event, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Note5 BenCab Limited Edition, of which only 1,000 units will be made available in the market.

“BenCab in Two Movements” captures the National Artist’s transformational, collaborative spirit and his great willingness to push his craft to the next frontier. The one-of-a-kind exhibit captures how art and technology are intertwined. The show allows visitors to Yuchengco Museum to dance along to BenCab’s collaborator, Polish choreographer Paulina Wycichowska, whose movements are captured in 40 sketches in the 2006 work Studies of Dance Movements. The exhibit uses customized Samsung Smart TV and mobile apps to enhance the visitors’ interactive experience.

Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Note5 BenCab Limited Edition—a fine marriage between art and technology. Only 1,000 units will be made available in the market. The limited-edition phablet comes in the Gold Platinum Galaxy Note5 variant with three pre-loaded Samsung art applications, exclusive BenCab artwork wallpapers, a commemorative BenCab in Two Movements micro art book, a special protective case featuring BenCab’s 2007 work Dance Interpretation, a certificate of authenticity, and unique serial number engraving at the back of the device.

The launch of the limited-edition Galaxy Note5 captures BenCab’s belief that technology can bring the arts and culture closer to the hearts and minds of Filipinos, a cause embraced by Samsung.

“As an artist, I have always dreamt of one day putting up a museum that would show not only my own work, but Philippine tribal art and contemporary works as well. Galaxy Note5 Luck 5 on A Ride Promo: A Lucky Ride with Samsung and Uber

Don't you just love surprises? A moment that seemed to be just a regular day, until you get something unexpected, like a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Who doesn't want one?

Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung, partnered with Uber to launch the Galaxy Note5 Luck 5 on A Ride Promo. The promo where Uber bookings at select locations, entitled passengers instant entry to the contest.

Five lucky passengers were given the ride of their lives when Samsung surprised them with the latest Samsung Galaxy Note5 waiting inside their Uber.

2015 SAMSUNG S CARPET with the Samsung Galaxy Note5 and S6 Edge+ (A Night of Fashion & Inspiration)

Just recently, Samsung unveiled the latest in mobile technology, that is, their latest flagship in phablet devices, the Samsung Galaxy Note5 & Galaxy S6 edge+.  These latest devices highlight the fusion between design and innovation which result in beauty with purpose.

Ushering in the launch of this year’s most anticipated smartphones was the S CARPET: Fashion & Inspiration—Samsung Electronics Philippines’ fashion-forward VIP event held at the SMX at SM Aura Premier.  It was hosted by Samsung’s ambassador and renowned celebrity  Ms. Solenn Heusaff  and graced by some of the biggest names in fashion, design, entertainment, and arts who were witnesses to another milestone in Samsung, and mobile technology history.

The highlights of the evening were the Samsung x FDCP fashion show showcasing stunning all-Filipino designer pieces, and the awarding of the first-ever Samsung Noteworthy & Edge Maker accolades featuring Philippines’ fashion and art’s corps d’elite.

Inspired by the spirit of pushing boundaries & driving innovation, Samsung once again fused fashion & technology by putting the spotlight on their established partnership with the Fashion and Design Council of the Philippines (FDCP). The S CARPET event featured an interactive digital fashion show that illustrated the combination of style and technology, in support of Filipino artistry and creativity.

First to unveil during the event was the White Pearl Collection by acclaimed designers Avel Bacudio, James Reyes, Ivarluski Aseron, Vic Barba, Joey Samson, and Anthony Nocom.  They put tribute to Samsung Galaxy Note5’s all-new design by sketching their art with the help of the all-powerful S Penright on the device. To the delight of the esteemed guests, a video of the sketched designs were projected upon the white pieces as the models strutted down the catwalk.

It was then followed up by revered designers Jerome Ang, Joel Escober, Ramon Esteban, Gerry Katigbak, Pablo Cabahug, Kristel Yulo, Ronaldo Arnaldo, Happy Andrada, Hindy Tantoco, and Noel Crisostomo who displayed the Silver Titanium & Gold Platinum Collection, which mirrors the elegant glass and metal finish of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. 

Finally, the group of Dong Omaga-Diaz, Frederick Peralta, JC Buendia, Jojie Lloren, Randy Ortiz, and Albert Andrada showcased their own take on the traditional terno as a fitting finale to celebrate Filipino artistry and make a statement on how technology can reinvent something traditional into something modern.

Thus, Digs Dimagiba, Business Unit Head of the IT & Mobile Division of Samsung Electronics Philippines, was quoted as saying “Empowered by digital technology, this generation is open to taking more risks, to push the boundaries of their preconceived limits. Moreover, five outstanding recipients were given the first-ever Samsung Edge Maker Awards.  First on the list is multimedia personality Bianca Gonzalez-Intal who is a household name when it comes to TV hosting. Truly a woman of substance and diverse passions, she is Meg magazine’s editor-at-large, a best-selling book author, and has also been a UNICEF supporter since 2007.

Next is premier celebrity fashion stylist Liz Uy. An ultimate fashion authority, she serves as Preview magazine’seditor-at-large, and has a client roster that includes some of the country’s top stars such as Kris Aquino, Bea Alonzo, and Anne Curtis.

Another Samsung Edge Maker award recipient is top fashion photographer Xander Angeles. Also included on the list is award-winning actress Iza Calzado.
